About 7 weeks ago Nature Photography - Warm Sunset by Marco Carmassi

Buy this print on

This warm and radiant photograph by Marco Carmassi is the perfect way to end the day. The title says it all: the plethora of rich reds in “Warm Sunset” brings us feelings of coziness and content, but the bold colors paired with a strong centralized composition offer plenty of visual drama to spice up a cool room. Carmassi’s approach to photography is intense and dedicated. “Nothing is added or hidden in post-production,” he explains, “the landscapes are shot just the way they are at that very moment. All the efforts, the endless hours spent waiting for a single shot, are giving their fruits: my works are appreciated by many qualified people worldwide.”

Paris: the City of Light – it’s a nickname earned during the Age of Enlightenment in recognition of the city’s significance as a cultural center, but in the 1800s Paris reinforced the moniker by becoming one of the first cities to adopt street lighting, first with gas lamps along the Champs Elysées, then lighting up the 1889 World's Fair (including the recently constructed Eiffel Tower) using electrical lights. Even today, the nighttime illumination of the city has an enchanting quality, timeless appeal with a modern edge. Discover more of Paris’ enduring beauty in our gallery at

About 7 weeks ago Happy February Birthdays!

Buy this print on

Happy birthday to everyone born in the month of February! The violet, primrose, iris, and snowdrop are all flowers associated with the second month of the year, but with the winter weather we've experienced the snowdrop seems most apropos this year: among the earliest bloomers, it represents new beginnings, resurrection, renewal, and fresh starts! A harbinger of spring, here’s hoping snowdrops (and not more snow) soon cover the landscape!

About 2 weeks ago Photographic Art - Tractor in Tulip Fields, North Holland, Netherlands by Peter Adams

Buy this print on

A harbinger of spring, the tulip is among the garden’s earliest bloomers, sometimes bursting into flower while snow still lingers on the ground. In springtime in North Holland, fields of tulips stretch to the horizon, taking on the look of a geometric abstract when seen from above.  Tulips were imported into Holland in the sixteenth century and have since become Holland’s trademark flower. You could almost say Hollanders have a longstanding love affair with the flower, which isn’t surprising: generally speaking, the meaning of tulips in the Victorian language of flowers is perfect love.

About 6 weeks ago International Women’s Day – War, 1883 by Anna Lea Merritt
Buy this print on

In celebration of International Women's Day tomorrow, we’re highlighting the work of American born artist Anna Lea Merritt (1844 – 1930), who made a name for herself as a portrait and figure painter in England. A successful working artist influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, Merritt intended to give up her career after marrying her mentor British painter and art restorer Henry Merritt, but returned to painting following the death of her husband just three months after their wedding. While Merritt felt she had experience no discrimination in the arts due to her gender, in a magazine article published in 1900 she wrote: “The chief obstacle to a woman’s success is that she can never have a wife. Just reflect what a wife does for an artist; darns his stockings; writes his letters; visits for his benefit; wards off intruders; is personally suggestive of beautiful pictures; always
About 2 weeks ago Happy Birthday Vincent Van Gogh!

Yesterday was the anniversary of Vincent Van Gogh’s birth (March 30, 1853, died 1890), and it would have been an ideal time to stand at the northeastern corner of the Place du Forum in Arles where Van Gogh set up his easel and painted his first starry background painting, or to sit in the café  and reflect on the amazing legacy he left us (more than a century after Van Gogh painted the café it  is still serving drinks to patrons). Famously unrecognized for his artistic achievements during his lifetime, you can celebrate Van Gogh’s life and the work that now has him regarded as one of the most profoundly influential artists of the 19th century by visiting our gallery at

One of America’s premier landscapes artists, Thomas Moran (1837-1926) is best known for his paintings of the American West, particularly of Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. He was also known to add imaginative elements, such as Indian caravans in the foreground of his western scenes, and for occasionally creating scenes that were more fantastical than actual, a combination of imagination and his extensive travels in America and Europe.
