About 4 weeks ago Drought Fashion Show

Laxman Dhotre is seen searching for work on the streets of Pune. He longs to go back to his home. His wife says, “I want to go back to our village but we can't. There is no water."

Ram Patade, a cotton grower from Kutubkheda said, "we don’t have money to pay loans. We have no option than to die starving."

Maharashtra is presently experiencing drought which is felt to be worse than the 1972 drought. It is set to break all the drought records in this state. People of Mumbai, Pune etc are not affected, except for a small price rise in the commodities. Many may not be aware of the drought in the next door rural areas. Millions in rural areas face even drinking water scarcity, lakhs of cattle are rendered hungry without fodder.

Rains are in the hands of God. Yet, bankruptcies of meaningful political leadership, administrative will and social collectiveness compound the woes of natural calamities.

Ultimately, Poor migrate

About 7 weeks ago Below is the picture of youth enjoying at a shopping mall. Having moved past this crowd, myself and my husband settled at a CCD table for a cup of coffee when my husband made a casual remark – “Just see how many ladies are sporting a BINDI (Bottu  – in Telugu) on their forehead?” To my surprise, not even 2% of the women are having BINDI on their forehead. The next thing remarkably seen is that there is none with a saree. Third thing to notice is that not even 10% girls have a Bangle on their hands.

Towards the end of the shopping at the Shopper’s Stop cash counter, a Japanese was behind me in the Que and said, “My wife asked me to get INDIAN traditional dress, SAREE. I want to see how it looks when worn. Can you show me a person wearing it?” Having said “Oh, Yes”, I  left the que and had to really go around for quite some time to spot an old lady in her past sixties wearing a saree. Thereafter,  I really don’t know whether this Japanese was impressed enough, after seeing this old lady in saree, so

About 1 week ago Why girls and ladies should wear bangles?

While in SBI when-ever I was over-stretched at work on computer, I used to get spondylosis.  Allopathic medicines and physiotherapy were no relief, till a colleague just applied acupressure on the index finger, just above the nail. What a relief!!  This made me believe that acupressure therapy is good for certain type of ailments and is remarkably safe, noninvasive, and free of dangerous side effects.

Acupressure is an oriental medical theory which believes that the nerve endings of various parts of our body terminate in hand and feet. By stimulating these nerve ends, we keep them active and healthy.

In the morning, at tea time, while we both spend some time to chat we also gently massage our hands with this wooden pyramid roller and wooden pyramid ball. We find it to be stimulating and relaxing. Thus we share our experience with you. Mark my words – a gentle massage, don’t overdo it to be painful.

Last but not the least – W

About 5 weeks ago Today I take the opportunity to introduce Sruthi garu, a young and talented girl having her awesome cookery channel in Youtube at  the following link
http://www.youtube.com/user/sruthiskitchen/videos?sort=dd&tag_id=&view=0

sruthiskitchen writes

"Hello Gayatri Garu!
I wanted to prepare a toffee filling and I love this method of preparing it (Dulce De Leche) in the pressure cooker rather than turning on my huge oven. I' m a big fan of your cooking style. :)

Please take a look at my channel and support me. I would love to hear any suggestions from your side regarding my presentation. It would be great if you add me to your channel's featured list so that I can get some attention to my channel.

Thanks,
Sruthi"

I from www.gayatrivantillu.com wish her all the best and attention.

About 2 days ago Idol Worship

When I see an infant being brought to an orphanage, I wonder whether GOD exists and question how he could be cruel to make an innocent infant an orphan.  I become an Atheist to conclude that no GOD exists.

Believing “Work is Worship”, when I work hard and succeed in a recipe, I boast myself as a "Karma Yogi" and thereafter declare Agnostic.

On a rainy day sitting in a rocking chair as I sip my coffee and draw my life’s Balance-Sheet, I feel blessed because I have been bestowed with more than what I deserve, because I see more virtuous and deserving not as comfortably placed as I am.  At this juncture I thank GOD and become a Theist.

I believe, many other viewers at www.gayatrivantillu.com must be going through these oscillations often in their day to day life.

Added to these I also tend to become curious to investigate, if GOD exists, what form he must be having. Is it a human form, because I have seen images of Lord Krishna, Rama

About 1 week ago Long nails have always been an expression of beauty. But beauty is not always healthy. The model in this photo is having short nails and yet is beautiful, isn't?

Researchers found that artificial and natural nails longer than 3 millimeters beyond the tip of the finger (or the length of a pencil tip) carry more harmful bacteria under them than short nails.

Even thorough hand washing is not 100 percent effective in ridding the nails of germs, it is recommended that people spend 15 seconds washing their hands,  but most people don't spend even half that time.

Mothers of infants and children, professionals in Health and Food Industry should have short nails only. Bacteria and worms eggs, trapped in nails cannot be seen with naked eye. They get transmitted to children while we handle their cutlery / vessels and food. Many times the eggs from human stool / faeces get lodged between the nails and become a source of constant and recurrent infection in children.
