About 7 weeks ago A few months ago we introduced an experience on Nexus 5 that made it easier to access all the goodness of Google Now directly from the home screen. Today we’re making that same experience available to more devices when you install the Google Now Launcher on any Nexus or Google Play edition phone or tablet running KitKat.

Google Now Launcher gives you quick access to Google Now, while keeping your apps right where you want them. Just tap home and then swipe right to access Google Now cards that show you just the right information, at just the right time. And anytime you see the search box at the top of your screen, you can say “Ok Google” (if you’re in the US, UK, or Canada), or you can tap the microphone button to trigger voice input. From there, you can ask a question, or tell your phone what to do, like send a message, get directions, or play a song. If you'd rather type your query, tap the Google search box, which now loads faster than ever.

Google Now Launcher also gives you a be

About 6 days ago Today we’re launching Google Camera, a new app for your Android phone or tablet that makes it easy to take quick photos and videos. And being behind the lens just got more fun with new creative picture modes.

Sleek Design. The 100% viewfinder gets out of your way while capturing the maximum resolution of the scene (no dropped pixels). And the extra large capture button is easy to press so your eyes never lose sight of the subject.

Lens Blur. Emphasize the subject while blurring the background for an SLR-like shot with shallow depth-of-field (or bokeh). You can even change the subject in focus after taking the shot.

Improved Panorama. New higher resolution panoramas capture the full width and detail of a scene.

Photo Sphere. Immersive 360 degree photo spheres let you look up, down and all around...now at up to 50 megapixels! For the first time available on non-Nexus devices.

Google Camera is now available on the Play store (http://goo.gl/llsZjx), and works

About 2 weeks ago Google Keep just got a little easier. If you add new images with text in Keep, search now finds printed text within those image so you can find what you're looking for even quicker. A new 'Trash' view in your Keep drawer comes in handy in case you delete something by mistake (where you'll now have an extra 7 days before it's permanently gone). And for the list-makers, your checked items now automatically move to the bottom of your lists so you can easily see what still needs to get done.

Try Keep today on the web (http://goo.gl/L7FdQJ), on Android (http://goo.gl/9VQ8Uv) and on Chrome (http://goo.gl/LYctiG).

About 5 weeks ago Sharing what’s up our sleeve: Android coming to wearables

Today we’re excited to extend Android to wearables. And we’re starting with the most familiar wearable—watches. We’re already working with several consumer electronics manufacturers, including Asus, HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung; chip makers Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm; and fashion brands like the Fossil Group to bring you watches powered by Android Wear later this year. If you’re a developer, check out developer.android.com/wear to download a Developer Preview so you can tailor your existing app notifications for watches powered by Android Wear. Look out for more developer resources and APIs coming soon.

About 1 day ago Hangouts 2.1 for Android: SMS improvements and a homescreen widget

Today we’re launching the newest version of Hangouts for Android, rolling out to the Play store (http://goo.gl/6Sv8V) over the next few days. Highlights include:

- Merged conversations: SMS and Hangout conversations with the same recipient are now combined into a single conversation. You can control whether you want to send a message via Hangouts or SMS with the flip of a switch, and different message types will be easy to tell apart in the conversation. Of course, you can always merge and unmerge conversations if you’d like.

- Simplified contact list: now there’s two main sections in contacts — People you Hangout With, and Phone Contacts — making it simpler to navigate, and easier to use for SMS.

- Homescreen widget: add the Hangouts widget to your homescreen for quick access to your recent conversations.

- Performance improvements: today’s update includes better quality video calls, as w
