About 2 weeks ago Aegean Paradise || Santorini

There are certain places in the world that have the power to take my breath away and the beautiful Greek Island of Santorini definitely tops that very short list. Just looking at this photo transports me back to the moment of being there, watching this incredible scene unfold, and (of course) enjoying a cold glass of Aegean white wine in the process.

While I usually work in wide landscape format, I really wanted to highlight the blue domed churches, a distinct and famous element of the Greek Island architecture. This is the vertical format result of one of my dual camera setups. While my D800 captured the entire scene at 14mm, I used the D700 to capture this alternate (zoomed in) view.

About 13 weeks ago Radiant Flow || Iceland

Join me, along with talented photographers +Patrick Di Fruscia and +Ken Kaminesky as we explore the rugged beauty and natural wonder of Iceland!

http://bit.ly/iceland-tour

Photograph Iceland’s incredible beauty with us as we lead you to Reykjavik and the Blue Lagoon Spa, Snæfellsnes, A Western Iceland Sailing & Whale Watching Trip, Geysir, Gullfoss, South Iceland including Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Vík, Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon and The Black Sand Beaches, and more... September is also Aurora Season so fingers crossed for the Northern Lights!

Seljalandsfoss (pictured here) is one of my favorite waterfalls in Iceland and the most extraordinary things about is that you can walk all the way around it, finding many great vantage points along the way. The only tricky part is finding spots that aren’t being saturated by the swirling mist in the wind. I spent an entire hour back there waiting for the right light and swapping out camera filt

About 1 week ago Colors of Valensole || France

Scouting shooting locations all the previous day, I was absolutely enchanted by the beautiful lavender fields in the Provence region of Southern France. When I woke up early the next morning to photograph sunrise though, I almost pinched myself to make sure the colors were actually real. When the first sunlight hit these rows of lavender, the soft golden rays transformed the already beautiful hues into something straight out of a fairy tale. The first and last five minutes of light are absolutely spectacular.

Naomi and I were the first ones on the scene at 5:15AM and shortly after, a bus full of 30 Korean photographers quickly unloaded and set up an arsenal of tripods and cameras. They were a friendly bunch and we all exchanged smiles and laughs, clearly excited about the potential sunrise ahead.

When the sun began to rise and this scene unfolded, one of the older gentlemen looked at the rows of lavender, put his arms out and said in a awestruc

About 4 weeks ago The Soul of Kyoto - and - Life Since Japan

There’s something very special about wandering the old streets of Kyoto at night… There’s also something very special about finally having time to update Blame The Monkey! :D

Seriously, ever since my last post on April 29th (just after arriving in Rome from Japan), life has been a non-stop whirlwind of projects, tours, and workshops that have kept me fully caffeinated and busy beyond belief. It’s been wildly exciting but it’s also prevented me from doing some of the things I really enjoy like editing and sharing new photos and updating the blog with new content. For that, I am very sorry but I plan to make up for it.

About 2 weeks ago Towers By The Sea || Gold Coast

Growing up in South Florida and spending so much time in Miami, I feel there’s a strange visual harmony between man made structures and the sea. Now, as a travel photographer, I’m constantly looking for places that combine my fascination with cityscapes with my love and admiration of the the ocean. With a collection of visually interesting towers and a seemingly endless pristine coastline, Surfers Paradise in Gold Coast Australia has definitely captured my attention with that same allure.

This was shot at twilight from the balcony of the penthouse suite at Pepper’s Broadbeach Hotel. And no, don’t be silly, of course I wasn’t staying in the Penthouse Suite. ;) While the view was also gorgeous from our apartment on the 21st floor, this view from the 50th is absolutely stunning.

About 12 weeks ago In Perfect Harmony || Osaka

Illuminated in soft twilight, Osaka Castle floats on a sea of beautiful cherry blossoms...

The past 5 weeks in Japan have been nothing short of amazing and while I’m filled with joy from all of the great experiences, I can’t seem to shake this sinking feeling in my heart knowing that the trip has come to an end. Japan is one of the very few places in the world that has that effect on me. It’s hard to describe but it just feels right to be there. So much so, that I’ve already put the next visit on the calendar. :)

As you can see from this photo, we arrived in Osaka at the peak of the cherry blossom bloom. I couldn’t have asked for more beautiful conditions for photographing the castle. It was truly spectacular and the big credit here definitely goes to Naomi for convincing them to let us in the gate early so we could get set up for the shot! It would’ve been a tragedy to miss a sky like this!
