Drawing was a casual hobby that became a guilty indulgence, which turned into a gratifying obsession. I specialize in realistic portraits that capture the essence of the subjects.
I had always doodled in my youth, but I put aside the hobby because of the demands of life. After being dormant for almost 30 years, I picked up pencils again. My pencil drawings ignited the fire in me.
In 2009, I received an Intuous Wacom tablet and Corel Painter as gifts. I was desperate to learn how to use the tools, but I had a difficult time picking up the fundamentals. Eventually I moved on to Photoshop, which I found a bit easier to learn. Nevertheless, it still took me over 10 months to finally feel comfortable producing anything that was remotely presentable.
Three years later, the digital tools seem to have become extensions of my arm. The versatility of the digital medium is marvelous. I am proud to achieve meticulou
